NEWS FROM THE PORCH, FEBRUARY 2019
After a long lay-off over the festive period it was good to be back in action at The Shamrock at the end of January; many thanks to everyone who joined us and we were glad to see so many of you with your dancing shoes on!
This year’s programme continues with a return to one of our favourite haunts, The Duke of York in Ipswich. Just as an aside, the monthly “Midweek Blues in Town” at The Duke is going very nicely, so if you haven’t been along yet don’t miss the next event which sees bottleneck guitar ace Martin McNeill in action on 6th February.
Then we’re off to pastures new with a Thursday night show at The United Brethren. This compact pub in Chelmsford has quickly established a fine reputation for quality live music and I can also testify to the excellent quality of the beer!
Finally, after stopping off once more at The Shamrock, we will be returning to the wonderful Swanage Blues Festival and hoping that the weather is kind to us! Wristbands (£10) and programmes are available to buy in advance and there’s a great line-up as always of over 40 acts in 18 indoor venues. See full details of “the big blues party on the south coast” at www.swanage-blues.org
More news to come next month ~ we hope to see you all soon.
Mike, Jon, Steve and Toni.
